Acrobat STILL crashes with embedded video

I see that a couple years ago, Adobe responded to queries regarding PDFs Crash When A Video Is Installed. Adobe said it was a known issue and that the workaround was to go through a series of steps to change Windows settings for graphics. I did that and it works.

Problem is, I'm trying to put out documents for 1,000 clients. I can't tell them to go through all those steps to make the video work.

Has Adobe ever fixed this issue? The last responses I see from them are more than two years old and implied that it was a problem they were working to fix.

    I use InDesign to embed a short video into a document then export the document as a PDF.

    Or I start with a PDF and use the Rich Media tool to embed a short video.

    Either way, the video doesn't work. Somtimes it crashes the entire program (says CONNECTING and then crashes) and sometimes it connects but the video is just a black screen with a wavy green line.

    I found this answer in the forum:

    And that works -- once i go through all the settings to change the graphics, it plays correctly. Thing is, I cannot instruct all my clients to go through all those steps. I need it to just work for them. The answer in the community (the link above) states that it's a known issue and that the solution is just a workaround.

     

    So is there a permanent solution?
