Acrobat Timing Out; requests opening files in what'sapp

When I try to open some larger pdfs, Acrobat says it has timed out and says open in what’sapp. I don’t even have what’sapp on my computer.  This has never happened to me. I attached the image of the error message below.

    As of today, I am experiencing the same issue with the Adobe Acrobat plugin on Chrome.
