I regulary have to review InDesign files from my company's designers in Acrobat. Some fonts show up correctly in the web app but very wrong in the desktop app. They look uneven liKe wHeN sOmeOnE tYpeS lIke ThIs to mock you. It seems to be fonts that aren't in Adobe, but I don't understand why it won't use local fonts as that's the preference setting. Any help?

Question: do the designers outline text in InDesign? If so, don't, it destroys quality. You can check if this was done by trying to copy/paste text. If you can't do that, it's outlined, one way or another, or rasterised.

Otherwise, please share the sample PDF you are using for your tests, for others to try out and maybe diagnose.

No, text isn't outlined. A new clue to the issue is that it shows up correctly on my Macbook screen, but wonky on my LG monitor.

    Hi @Siobhan Harper

Hope you are doing well, and sorry to hear that.

Is this an issue specifically with the Indesign files or with other PDFs as well? Please check the export settings from Indesign and see if that helps.

You may also try to save the PDF as optimized PDF as described below and see if that works :

    1. Open the PDF  in Acrobat Pro
    2. Go to File Menu > Save as Other > Optimized PDF
    3. Click on the "Font " and Click "Retain" > OK

Let us know how it goes.

    Regards

    Amal
