Acrobat Url Protocol: opening pdf file from browser by SharePoint url in Acrobat DC does not work

I tried to use "acrobat:" protocol, added to the registry while Acrobat DC installation in following way:

acrobat:https://SharePointFolderPath/my_pdf.pdf

Acrobat DC is opened, no messages and file is NOT opened

When I try to open the url via cmd, everything works fine and as expected in Acrobat DC: authentication page is opened, after that I can edit and sync changes with SharePoint:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat DC\Acrobat>Acrobat.exe  https://SharePointFolderPath/my_pdf.pdf

How "acrobat:" protocol is expected to work? Why the file is not opened in Acrobat? Is there any way to fix it?
