Acrobat won't start and won't open documents (CC 5.3.1.470)

Nothing happens when I try to start the app or open documents, except once I received a message saying there was "no DE" or "no DD" or something of the sort. That message did not come again.

What's the exact version number of the application (You can find it out by going to Help - About Adobe Acrobat)? What's your OS version?

What's the EXACT text of the error message you're seeing?

I have Acrobat version 2020.013.20064 and Windows 10 Home. Except for one time, there have been NO error messages. The one error message I received, I cannot quote exactly. I apologize for that.

My workaround today was to exit the program, go to Task Manager and terminate Adobe Acrobat DC (32 bit) which was showing as still running. Perhaps that might be a clue for you.

Your help would be appreciated. I pay for several licenses because I rely on this program so much. It needs to work.

I don't follow... So what happens when you try to open the application now? There's no error message but it doesn't open at all?

This is a PS to my own post, above. I have a solution. Go to Task Manager (in Windows), find everything that says "Adobe" and terminate each one. Return to CC and choose Acrobat again, or just double-click the PDF document you want to open. It will work fine. At least for today. I'll update you all if the problem persists.

I am the original poster and I am sorry to keep posting. Yesterday I said I had a solution. I want everyone to know that it's a solution that works once and only once. After that, the problem begins again. Adobe Acrobat won't start and won't open files. This is absolutely unacceptable. Adobe has to fix it.
