Question

Acrobat X closes after 3-5 seconds

I recently reloaded my copy of Adobe Acrobat X into a new laptop. It took initially with Ver. 10.0.0 but when I went to "update" to the most current version, it would not let me do an update. Then I did a remove and re-load they also did not seem to work, even after installing, then removing, then reinstalling my licensed copy. When I open the program it stays active for only 3-5 seconds, then just closes. same is true when I try to open a .pdf document. It closes after 3-5 seconds. Also, there seems to be some other anomalies with the program use, as when I send a .pdf from my printer, it also does not seem to take.

Can anyone help please ?

if you have an incompatible (ie, newer) os, you can expect some (or a lot of) problems.

that said, if you have windows,

uninstall all acrobat and reader versions

clean per Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

restart your computer

reinstall acrobat x

update by downloading the files directly and then applying them: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/
