Also, Adobe recently announced it has shut down all activation servers for older versions. If that's the case (it's not clear if it is), then you won't be able to activate (and use) it on the new computer, anyway.

1. Uninstalling does not reduce the license count.

2. NOBODY from Adobe will contact you privately. But you can expect to be contacted by SCAMMERS who wait in this forum for someone like you... you can be sure a private message isn't from Adobe, no matter what they say!!

3. Acrobat X is unsupported. Adobe won't help with it in any way except... see 5

4. Do you get the message "License in use on too many computers"? If so, you need to deactivate it on an old computer. You say you did that, but how did you do it?

5. If you lost the old computer without deactivating, you might be able to call Adobe (THEY WON'T CALL YOU) and ask for an activation count reset. Most customer service reps will refuse, but you might eventually be lucky. Ask for ACTIVATON COUNT RESET first and often; do not start by saying you have Acrobat X, they will politely refuse to help.

6. This may well be the end of the line, and time to get up to date.

initially the chatbot tried to solve the issue but then refer me to an actual person when the problem wast not resolved... so apparently the serial number was too old and I was asked to provide proof of purchase with the picture of the packaging which luckily I still keep it...and they send me a new serial number which fianlly works out fine
