Acrobat X toolbar icons disappear

While working on a PDF document, my toolbar icons disappear when I scroll the cursor over them.  They don't disappear until the cursor touches them.  Usually, weird stuff like this happens after a Microsoft update but I don't know if there is a connection or not.  I can't even close the program normally.  To close it I have to go to the Task Manager and click End Task.  When I restart the program, it works fine.  But eventually the cursor will start erasing things.  I haven't been able to pin down anything that would provide a clue as to when this is going to happen.  Right now it seems very random.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
