Acrobat XI Pro-How to Insert, Edit and Delete Links to outside websites and documents

I have Windows 10 and Acrobat XI Pro (version 11.0.22).  I know XI Pro is obsolete, but I just use it for a little personal work.  As much as I have struggled with it, I am not sure I want to upgrade.  I have read many articles and tried dozens of times to insert a link into the pdf.  I see the "Insert Link" tool.  Sometimes the box will not open for me.  Other times I get it open, fill it all in, and nothing happens.  I do not know how to insert, edit or delete links to outside websites and documents.  Nor do I understand how to do links inside documents.  I cannot follow and understand what the Adobe support websites are saying to do.  Mostly because they use so many words I don't understand and do not start at the beginning.  I am a novice.

Can anyone tell me how to do this?  Do I copy the outside link first?  Do I select an "Add Text" box first?  Or Edit Text and Images?  I don't know the first step, and I think this is what is causing me problems too.  I am not familiar with what all the little pointers, diamonds, and other shapes mean.   If anyone could give me a very simple step-by-step way to insert, edit and delete outside links, I would so appreciate it.  Even more if you would also explain how to do "Inside Links."

Thank you for your help.  I have read this before.  I tried it again.  I was able to make a link to a website, but on my PDF, all I see is a blue rectangle like a text box.  Is there a way to show the link?  I would forget a link was even there, much less what it was for.

First add the text to the document (e.g. www.adobe.com) then add the link to the text.
