Add Text in Adobe Pro slow to enter and delete characters

Hi Adobe Community,

I'm having an issue with Adobe Pro where we Add Text and it is slow to show the characters inouted, but painfully slower to delete them. In fact, the text will flash one at a time before deleting. Interstingly enough, Add Text Box works just fine. This seems like a setting issue so we already tried unchecking "Enabled Enhanced Security" and "Protected Mode." That did not resolve our issue. We also unchecked "Enable hardware rendering for legacy video cards", "Show online storage", and did a repair in control panel. The version is on 24.003.20180.

Hardware specs:

Motherboard - LENOVO 21FV004EUS
Processor - 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-13900H
Total Physical Cores - 14
Memory (Installed) - 64 GB
Memory (Usable) - 63.7 GB
BIOS Name - N3ZET44W (1.31 )
BIOS Version - N3ZET44W (1.31 )
BIOS Released - 2024-07-25
Display Adapters - Intel(R) Iris(R) Xe Graphics & NVIDIA RTX 2000 Ada Generation Laptop GPU

Woud appreciate more insights on resolving this issue.

Hi @coeus_6230,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for the trouble, and the delayed response.

In case you are still looking for a solution, you might want to try the below suggestions:

If your document is in PDF/A mode (which is a standard for archiving PDFs), it can sometimes cause performance issues, especially with text editing.

  • Go to Edit > Preferences > Documents.
  • Look for PDF/A View Mode.
  • Set this to Never to avoid potential performance issues with editing.

Since you've already tried unchecking Enable hardware rendering, you might also want to disable Smooth Text as it can sometimes cause performance issues with text rendering.

  • Go to Edit > Preferences (Windows) or Acrobat > Preferences (Mac).
  • In the Preferences window, select Page Display.
  • Uncheck Smooth Text (under the Rendering section).
  • Restart Adobe Acrobat to see if this resolves the issue.

Also, please ensure that you are on the latest version of the application (2024.005.20xxx) for the best experience.
