Question

Added link to video file says "... disallowed by your system administrator."

I added a link to a page within a PDF on an external hard drive in "Edit PDF" Tool and told it to open a video file on that drive, but got the error "This file is set to be launched by this PDF file. This is currently disallowed by your system administrator." I am the system administrator. How do I allow it?

I am wondering if it is related to a long file path. I think the path is well over 300 characters.

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out. We are sorry for the trouble you are experiencing.

The error message "This file is set to be launched by this PDF file. This is currently disallowed by your system administrator" in Adobe Acrobat indicates that the PDF is trying to execute a file type that is blocked by your system's security settings.

Please check the correct answers marked in the similar discussion https://adobe.ly/45oR4fs and see if that works for you.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi Amal,

Thanks. I don't know where to "... go into the registry (regedit) ..." that jmkolb referred to. Can you explain how to do that?
The other solutions I was able to try, but they didn't work. Entering the file path appeared to not work because it would truncate the path. When I moved the .avi file I was trying to play closer to the root folder, Adobe allowed the file to be accessed. So that is a workaround, but it would be nice if there was a way around the too-long file path.
