Added Text Won't Change Colour

Hi. I have added some text to a document, and to allow me to see my document alterations more clearly, I want to change the colour to red. The text editing section indicates that the text is red, however it remains black on the page, as you can see in the screenshot. How do I fix this?

Apologies for the black scribble, as this is a business document I had to hide the content.
