Adobe Acrobat 9 is not accepting my license

I'm reprinting an "exchange" I had with Adobe about Acrobat Pro 9, a program I purchased some time ago and have used for years. Last week, the program would not operate. My contacts (multiple and time consuming) were no help. I can't get any response either through phone nor online avenues from Adobe about why the company suddenly, unexpectedly, and irrevocably revoked my licence for Acrobat but not for the other parts of the CS4 program.

This is a useless fix. I have downloaded it three times and used the serial number your technicians (3 of them) confirmed was the correct number. And still I have no Adobe Acrobat Pro. It came with my CS Design Premium. All of the other programs on those discs work. For some reason your company has decided to revoke my licence for a program I legitimately bought.
WHAT IS GOING ON?????????

Do you get a message that SAYS the serial is revoked? Or does it say something else? Or do Adobe say it's revoked (you don't quote that part). Are you installing with your original CDs?

The automated message tells me the license is "invalid." The techs I talked to in India told me the license was "revoked" but had no reason for the revocation. Instead, the techs directed me to download the program again and confirmed that the license number I had was, indeed, valid and should work with the download. It did not.

Scruffy_nm, did you purchase an educational version of Creative Suite 4 Design Premium?  If so, then the retail installation files available at Download Adobe Creative Suite 4 (CS4) products will not work with an education license and will return the message that the serial number is invalid.

If you did purchase the educational version then please install Creative Suite 4 from the files provided with your purchase.  If the current computer does not feature an optical drive then use another computer to copy the files to a USB drive.
