Adobe Acrobat, all line drawing functions, I can start a line, etc., but cant get the app to stop the function. I have to force quit the application. I am updated to the latest version, and I have used the repair function

Let me amend this statement. In the latest versions of the New Acrobat interface, there is a rudimentary set of “drawing tools” shown, based on the Comment toolset found in previous versions of the program. Please allow me to offer the following comment I made elsewhere in this forum:

“You might want to try switching to the Old Acrobat interface, View>Disable New Acrobat menu command, and use the “drawing tools” within the Comment toolset. 

“Though, as I’m working on my Mac this morning, I can use the drawing tools within Acrobat and I’m not experiencing the problems you’re having. My system reports I’m using the latest version of Acrobat Pro, 2026.002.21901. 

“That’s not to deny that you’re having the problems you’re having. Y’all obviously are, and I would not deny that. But if you’re having problems getting Acrobat to release your drawing tool in “New Acrobat”, you may want to try this in the interim:

• Draw the freehand element/line/shape you want
• Go back to your toolbar, ignoring the fact that your “line” is continuing as you move your cursor
• Click on the Select Tool, as shown in the illustration below

• This should release your drawing tool, and dispatch the errant additional drawing element you saw leading to the toolbar.

“The “drawing tools” available in the “New Acrobat” are actually an extension of the Comment toolset provided in older versions of Acrobat. In fact, if you click on the object frame after you create it, it will give you the option to add a comment in the flyaway menu. They’re really not a fully formed drawing toolset like you’d find in Illustrator, Photoshop or other Adobe graphic applications.”
