Adobe Acrobat closes/crashes when OCR/optimize starts

Adobe Acrobat keeps closing immediately after OCR (and optimize PDF) starts to run. This seems to be an issue with the newest version (23.006.20320), because I didn't encounter this problem a day or two ago. I've tried repairing the installation and restarting my computer.

Hi chrhammoBrock32311030qa3g, and TM725,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry about the trouble caused.

As the application crashes, please try the troubleshooting steps suggested in the following help document: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-dc-crashes-on-windows-os.html.

If that does not help, try removing the application and running the cleaner tool (https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html). Reboot the machine and install Acrobat Pro from the following page: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-dc-downloads.html.

If the issue still occurs, share the OS versions on the machine. Share the screen recording of the workflow.

We may require logs for the crash. You may collect the crash logs using the steps suggested here: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/collect-logs-crash-freeze.html

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

I have the same issue. I run Acrobat DC on my Mac (OS 14.2.1 "Sonoma"). I did everything as said (unstalling, cleaning, re-installing) but Acrobat still crashes when I want to run OCR.

Had the same problem.

Disappeared after uninstall, clean, and install.

Unfortunately, you loose all your preferences.

This helped. In addition, it was my opportunity to install the 64 bits version. I don't know if it is because of the reinstallation or if it is the 64 bits, but the software now feels more responsive…

Have you learned of a fix? This just suddenly started happening to my scanned documents.  Incredibly frustrating that it happens and that Adobe has apparently done nothing to remedy the problem.

Same problem. Was using it fine just before updating. Started crashing immediately after the update
