Adobe Acrobat crashes when trying to check properties in forms

I am using Adobe Acrobat (version 2025.001.20918) on MacOS Tahoe (26.1) and it crashes whenever I go to Prepare a Form, and then control-click on an element in the form and click Properties. It crashes on older installations as well as brand new installations. I have attached a PDF that causes the crash every time. It is from this older post: https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/some-documents-crash-acrobat-pro-x/m-p/11539122

Hi,

Thanks for paying quick attention to my query / post. Followed the above steps narrated. I did get a popup stating that a new version is available for download. (25.001.20937). followed the onscreen instructions, updated and tested.

1. After the update, repeated the same steps (subject of this thread) and was able to use the software successfully.
2. Additionally enabled the “Enable Protected Mode at startup (Preview)” and “Enable Enhanced Security” checkboxes under Acrobat -> preferences -> Security (Enhanced) screen (that was disabled earlier) and checked and seems to be working fine in this scenario as well.
3. For test purpose, tweaked other relevant system settings and working as expected.

I guess the build package being referenced by creative cloud app for updates needs to be relooked or maybe it was an inflight situation as the latest update package was released today.

Thanks,
Kumar.

Thank you, Kumar, for confirming that you are able to use the app, and it is not crashing while accessing the form field properties with the latest build of Acrobat: 25.001.20937 Planned update, Nov 20, 2025.

Please let us know if the issue persists.

Regards,

Anand Sri.

Hello @mrogoff, @Robyn235080613kat

Thank you for reaching out. Please try downloading the update manually from this link: https://adobe.ly/4i9wMLM

Download the .msp or .dmg file of Acrobat according to your operating system and architecture (32-bit or 64-bit). Run the package, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation, restart your machine, and then try the workflow.

Or, you can go to the Menu/Acrobat option in Acrobat > select Help > check for updates, install the latest build, and restart the machine. If this is an IT-managed machine, you may need to contact the IT team to install the updates from the link provided in the above Release Notes.

If the issue persists, please collect the logs and share them with us for further investigation. To collect the logs, please refer to this article on collecting all logs from the affected machine: Adobe Acrobat Diagnostics. Ensure that you select all log options and attempt to reproduce the issue. After that, close the Log Collector tool; it will generate the logs along with a log ID. Please share this log ID with us.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

Hi @Rash28354833j30k ,

Can you confirm whether the issue is reproducible on the latest version: 2025.001.20937 as well?

Thanks

Hi,

The acrobat version automatically installed by the creative cloud app is 2025.001.20918.
The creative cloud app also states that – all installed apps are up-to-date.
Have attached the crash report stored under: ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/folder.

Thanks

Followed the instructions as stated in the URL: https://adobe.ly/488SRFM and i guess the tool has uploaded the files to adobe servers.

Id shown on screen by the tool: 19b6b93b-92c1-4065-9a7c-177aa45c4aaa

Hope this helps to rectify the issue.

Confirmed crash here on same OS and version.

Rolled back to v 24.005.20400 and problem is gone. Can we get an update on that update?

Hello @Rash28354833j30k, @tonyocube

I hope you are doing well, and thank you for reaching out.

Could you please share more details? Is it crashing when you try to access the properties of all the PDFs? Or is it with one specific PDF? The attached PDF is working on both my machines, i.e., Windows and Mac. Does the app crash with any other tool or workflow?

For testing purposes, please disable enhanced security as follows: Acrobat > Preferences > Security (Enhanced) > uncheck 'Enable Enhanced Security' and 'Protected Mode at startup'. Click Ok, restart the application, and try again.

If the issue continues, please provide the following information: the current version of the operating system on your device and the logs from the affected machine. To collect the logs, download and run the Log Collector tool. Ensure that you select all log options and attempt to reproduce the issue. After that, close the Log Collector tool; it will generate the logs along with a log ID. Please share this log ID with us for further investigation.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

I'm having the same issue of Acrobat crashing when trying to open Properties on a fill-in form.  We tried uninstall, repair, reinstalled, and other "normal" things to check.  It happens on every fill-in document.  I have the update 25.001.20918.  My coworker is having this problem, too.
