Question

Adobe Acrobat DC compatibility with a new Macbook Pro

I purchased a desktop copy of Adobe Acrobat DC in 2015 for my 2015 Macbook Pro with an Intel processor.  The Acrobat program worked great for me during the past 9+ years.  But my old computer has died and I purchased a new 16" Macbook Pro with OS 15.3 and an Apple Silicon chip.

The "Acrobat_2015_Web_WWMUI.dmg" file that I saved from this 2015 purchase is not installing on my new Macbook Pro.  Does anyone know if this 2015 version of Acrobat DC is compatible with the hardware and operating system of my new Macbook Pro.

And if it is not, what are my alternatives to purchase another compatible desktop copy of Acrobat that I do not require an Internet connect to use on a routine basis (I need to be able to use the program during long international flights when I do not have an Internet connection)?  And, is there a one-time purchase option as there was last decade where I do not have to pay monthly or annual licensing charges?

Thank you!

Hello Michael!

I hope you are doing well. Thanks for sharing the detailed information.

Unfortunately, the Acrobat 12 (also known as Acrobat 2015) has reached its end of support. While the initial end of support was on April 7, 2020, it was extended to July 7, 2020. For detailed information, please see this article: https://adobe.ly/3GdZXhS

This is why the setup file on the new MacBook is not working. We recommend that you update to the latest versions of Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Acrobat Reader. By updating installations to the latest versions, you benefit from the latest functional enhancements and improved security measures.

We also verified your Adobe ID (email), which you have used to log in to the community. We see that you have old versions of Acrobat Perpetual (Serial number) based licenses registered, such as Acrobat 12, Acrobat 8, Acrobat 7, etc. You can contact the Support team to check if upgrade options are still available and request a supported setup file for the current version on the new laptop.

I hope the above information helps. Feel free to ask if you have any more questions or need additional help!

Thanks,

Anand Sri.
