Question

Adobe Acrobat defaults to 4 printing copies instead of 1 (only in Acrobat)

Hi,
I’m experiencing a strange issue with Adobe Acrobat (Reader/Pro).

Since yesterday, Acrobat defaults to printing 4 copies instead of 1.
Important details:

  • The issue occurs only in Adobe Acrobat

  • Other applications (Word, browser, etc.) correctly default to 1 copy

  • Printer and driver have not been changed

  • I have reinstalled Adobe Acrobat, but the problem persists

  • Until yesterday, Acrobat always defaulted to 1 copy

It looks like Acrobat may have stored an incorrect print preference or has an issue with its print settings.

Has anyone encountered this before?
Is there a way to fully reset Acrobat print preferences, or could this be a known bug in a recent update?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I’d like to add a few more details.

  • This issue occurs on Windows 11

  • The default value of 4 copies appears on multiple printers, not just one

  • If I manually change the value to 1 copy and print a single page, Acrobat remembers this setting only until I restart the computer

  • After a system reboot, Acrobat again defaults to 4 copies

So the setting seems to be stored temporarily, but it is not persistent across system restarts.

Hope this helps narrow down the cause.

Amal.

Hi there

Hope you are doing well, and thanks for reaching out.

I have tried to reproduce the issue at my end, and the application is working fine.

Would you mind sharing the version of the Adobe Acrobat application you are using? Go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure it's updated to the latest version 25.01.20997. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Are you using an IT-managed work computer or a personal computer? If it's an IT-managed device, please try to contact your IT admin at work and see if that helps.

If it's a personal computer, you may also try updating the printer driver and firmware and rebooting the computer. Additionally, you may try to remove the printer driver and firmware and reinstall it from the printer manufacturer's website, and check.

If it still doesn't work, please share a small video recording of the steps you are taking and the issue as it occurs, along with the print logs as described here https://adobe.ly/4973QBf for further investigation.
