Question

Adobe Acrobat Files Opening in Browser

I recently purchased a new computer and installed Creative Suite including Adobe Acrobat Pro DC. Since that time, all of my .pdf files open in a browser and I am unable to edit them. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Acrobat 3 times. I have looked online for solutions and have tried everything that I have found. When I go to my apps, .pdf is directed to Adobe Acrobat Pro DC. Does anyone have suggestions of what I can do to solve this? It is so frustrating.

Did you tell your browser what to do with PDF files?  See screenshot from Firefox's default PDF viewer.

Hi there

We are sorry for the trouble. As described the PDF files are getting open in a browser

Are you trying to open the PDF online via web browser or are the PDFs stored locally on your computer? Please try to donload the PDF locally to your comouter and then try to open it with Adobe Acrobat Pro DC and check.

Are you on a Mac or Windows machine and what is the version of the OS?

If you are on Windows machine, please try to make the Adobe Acrobat/Reader DC as the default PDF viewer application as described in the help article https://helpx.adobe.com/in/acrobat/kb/not-default-pdf-owner-windows10.html and see if that works for you.

Additional Information: You may also take a look at the help page https://helpx.adobe.com/in/acrobat/using/display-pdf-in-browser.html

Let us know how it goes

Regards

Amal

I am on a Windows 10 machine. The files are saved locally on my machine. I just checked one of the files and Adobe Acrobat DC is set as the program to open the files with (when I click on properties.) I'm not sure what else to try as a browser isn't involved until I try and open the files. The browser address is the link to where the file is located on my computer -- but I am unable to do anything with the Acrobat files (modify, put files together, etc.) When I tried to Combine Files and select any of the pdf files, I get a small yellow triangle in the upper corner of the file. It says, "Acrobat does not support the conversion of one or more of your files to PDF. Please remove these files or go to Settings and choose the PDF Portfolio option." So, it is not even recognizing the files as .pdf. Any other suggestions?

Also ensure you're opening Acrobat Pro DC and not the FREE Acrobat Reader.
