Adobe Acrobat for iPad – Annotation Performance and Usability Issues
We are experiencing several usability and performance issues with Adobe Acrobat on managed iPads. Feedback has been collected from multiple users who regularly review and annotate PDF documents.
The primary issues reported are:
-
Pen/Scribble Performance – The pen and annotation experience can feel jittery, unstable, and slow to respond while writing or marking up documents. Users report that handwriting does not feel as smooth or responsive as expected.
-
Eraser Functionality – When using the eraser, users are unable to erase only part of a handwritten annotation or mark. Adobe appears to treat the annotation as a single object and removes the entire stroke rather than the selected portion.
-
Sharing Annotated Pages – Users need the ability to select and share/export only specific annotated pages from a larger PDF. Currently, sharing large documents when only a few annotated pages are required is creating workflow issues.
These issues have been reproduced or reported by multiple users and are impacting the PDF review and annotation experience on iPad.
We would like Adobe to confirm:
-
Whether the pen/scribble responsiveness is expected behavior or if there are recommended settings or fixes to improve performance.
-
Whether partial erasing of handwritten annotations is currently supported in Adobe Acrobat for iPad.
-
Whether there is a supported method to select and share/export only specific annotated pages from a PDF.
-
Whether any upcoming Acrobat for iPad updates address these annotation and workflow limitations.
Please let us know what additional logs, application/device information, screenshots, or testing information would be helpful for troubleshooting.
