    Hi HinalPatel1977,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry for the trouble caused.

The issue is usually related to the complexity of the PDF, available system resources, or a problem within the document itself, rather than the page count alone.

Please try the following troubleshooting steps:

    1. Verify the actual PDF file size: A 500-page PDF can range from a few MB to several hundred MB depending on embedded images, scanned pages, fonts, OCR layers, annotations, and attachments. If the file contains high-resolution scanned images or extensive OCR data, Acrobat may require significant memory and processing power to render it.
    1. Update Acrobat: Ensure that the application is updated to the latest version. In Acrobat, go to Menu > Help > Check for update.
    1. Disable Protected Mode temporarily (for testing)
    • In Acrobat: Edit > Preferences > Security (Enhanced).
    • Temporarily uncheck Enable Protected Mode at startup, restart Acrobat, and test the file.
    • If this resolves the issue, re-enable the setting after testing and investigate further.
    1. Check system resources: Open Task Manager (Windows) or Activity Monitor (macOS) while opening the PDF. If memory or CPU usage reaches very high levels, the system may be struggling to process the document.

    2. Try reinstalling the application using the steps suggested below:

    • Remove the application and run the cleaner tool (https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html).
    • Reboot the machine
    • Install Adobe Acrobat from the following page: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-dc-downloads.html.

If the issue still occurs, please share the following information:

    • Check if it happens with this particular PDF.
    • Share the PDF with us.
    • Share the Acrobat and OS version on the machine
    • Collect the logs using the steps suggested here: Adobe Acrobat Diagnostics and share the log ID created.

Let us know how it goes.

    Thanks,

    Meenakshi
