Adobe Acrobat not allowing me to make large edits to document.

I'm trying to make some changes on a document (swapping out some pages) but I keep getting an error when trying to make the edits. It reads " Adobe Acrobat has detected that you are performing an extensive dit on this document. For this type of editing, try exporting the file." 

What does it mean export the file? Export it where? Shouldn't I be able to edit the documetnt on acrobat? Does anyone know how to get rid of this error or help me work around this?
