Question

Adobe Acrobat OCR is ignoring EXTREMELY OBVIOUS TEXT, how can I force it to see

I'm trying to OCR  a character sheet from a game, but Acrobat refuses to acknowledge certain text as text. It's not unclear, it's not blurry, it's very plainly text.

How can I force Adobe Acrobat to look at it?

I'm so frustrated that this  expensive software can't do this basic thing.

What's clear to humans can be not so clear to a computer algorithm, see captchas as an example, and the grid pattern behind some of the text on this page is most likely causing this issue. If you can get rid of it (in Photoshop, for example), I'm sure the results will be much better. Alternatively, you can use a more powerful OCR engine, like that of ABBYY FineReader.
