Adobe Acrobat Preflight Droplet creation on Windows

I am trying to create a droplet from a preflight profile in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC on a Windows system. When I create one the droplet ends with an .exe file extenstion. When I drop a PDF on the droplet my screen goes black and the preflight functions do not take affect. 

When I created a droplet on a Mac it doesn't have any extension and I've never had any issues. 

Are Acrobat Pro DC droplets created in Windows sytems supposed work with the droplet name having the .exe suffix or should they be something else?
