Adobe Acrobat Pro - Background process ONLY (Does not launch)

Hello all!

My org has been having on-and-off issue with Adobe Acrobat Pro [version 25.001.20756]

 

Users are unable to get Acrobat to launch, but multiple Acrobat background processes will open in task manager. I've been investigating for a few days, trying anything to troubleshoot this issue. This is what I've learned so far.

- The only permanent fix I've found so far has been using the Adobe Cleaner to wipe out everything and reinstall Acrobat, but is a hassle to do for remote users.
- Compatiblity Mode has not resolved any issues, but I also read that it effects functionality (which is not a viable option for some users)
- On occasion, closing ALL Adobe background processes (Updater, Notification, Licensing, etc) and running Acrobat as Admin does force open the program but isn't guaranteed.
- I suspect it could be a Windows/File Permissions issues since the program opens when I "Run As Different User" under my administrator account but I can't be sure.

Does anyone (others in my situation or Adobe Support) have any other tips I can use to figure out exactly why this is happening?

I am seeing this exactly started happening few days ago for some users in my org . I first had it happening five days ago I think and just for two users but the number of users affected is slowly growing day by day since.
I also run Adobe Cleaner on one ocassion but I think it only helped for 24 hours. I concur - this is definitely a bug as only started happening with version 25.001.20756 (I tried reinstalling 64bit version, installing 32bit version, switching to a NEW Adobe interface, switching to old interface Adobe, leaving preferences intact, modifying preferences to a 'safe' set). Also tried the Adobe Cleaner - nothing helps!

Have been trying to get to the bottom of this for couple of days so I am glad to hear it's not just me seeing it happening

Resolved for my org after installing version 25.001.20813

Turned out to be one of the bugs which was seemignly a 'Performance' category

  • 4531041: Cancelling the window opened for a password protected PDF, the other PDF files will not open until we close the Acrobat process from Task Manager

As the application is not launching, please try the troubleshooting steps sugested in the following help document: https://adobe.ly/3VPgGg3.

 

If that does not help, please collect the logs using the Diagnostic tool and share the log ID. We will check them.

Hello mIguel

Troubleshooting did not help as th issue is returning and use of the Diagnostic Tools is not possible as the org is using Windows365 so the option is not there , as you only allow dig to be run on a physical machine. Please advise how to fix
