Adobe Acrobat Pro DC 2015 - How to stop it from making mechange file names every time I edit

Hello.  I just "updated" from Acrobat Pro 2011 to a used version of Acrobat Pro DC 2015 (legal copy with the CD disk and everything - sorry, I just can't afford the new stuff).

I have encountered a problem I never experienced before with 2011, and I hope it's just some feature that I can turn off.

Every time I make an edit (usually just consisting of adding a bit of text here and there) Abode WON'T LET ME JUST SAVE THE FILE with the edits.  It makes me save the file with a NEW FILE NAME.  This is highly irritating to me.  How do I turn this off?

Thanks in advance.

It seems like the original file is enforcing editing restrictions or was created with Reader enabled rights (but this is just a guess and I may be wrong).

To confirm if this PDF is indeed a secured PDF document, go to File => Document Properties => and click on the "Security" tab.

Note in that dialogue window if there are any type of restrictions.

If the PDF is indeed protected with password, and it is also enforcing editing restrictions, you may need to remove the password and such resctrictions completely.

Otherwise, it is safe to save a copy with a new file name. In which case, the new copy should allow you to save and edit normally.

Thank you for that, but unfortunately, it doesn't solve my problem.  I'm the one who creates the files from raw PDF files from a client.  I get the files, I open them, run OCR, then save them with a particular file name as regular PDF files.  I don't save them with any passwords, read-only, or security designations.  Regardless, each and every time I re-open one of these files to insert more text, when I save, I am required to re-name the file.

I hope somebody can identify what the problem is.

Make sure the Preview option is disabled in Widows Explorer.
