Adobe Acrobat Pro DC does not open

I've seen this post come up before, but none of the marked solutions worked in my case. I click on a .pdf or even try opening Adobe Acrobat DC, nothing happens. No error message. No file. Nothing. I checked the forums and this seems to come up a lot. I've tried:
- updating Windows,
- running in admin mode,
- running in compatability mode,
- repairing the installation in control panel,
- restarting the computer multiple times,
- uninstalling and reinstalling Acrobat SEVERAL times.
Still does not work. The only solution I havcn't been able to try is checking for Adobe updates. When I follow links to supposed Adobe updates, it takes me to deals on Adobe Reader. When I follow links to update patches, I get an error message that the program to be updated may be missing. Acrobat is definitely installed on my computer. It worked just fine until recently. I was disabling start up applications and accidently disabled Adobe Updater. Now, no Acrobat. How do I fix this?
