Adobe Acrobat Pro DC hangs after opening files

My Adobe Acrobat Pro DC was working fine until a few days ago. It began to hang [spinning wheel] after opening any pdf file and I had to use Force Quit.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the app from Creative Cloud. It is the latest version, Continuous Relsease | Version 2020.006.20042.
I am using Mac Catalina OS. 

Any suggestions welcome, thank you

We are sorry for the trouble. As described the application is hanging after files.

 

For testing purposes, please try to turn off the protected mode. Go to Adobe Acrobat DC > Preferences > Enhanced Security > Turn off the protected mode and uncheck the enhanced security > Click OK and reboot the application and check.

 

If it still doesn't work, please try the following steps:
