Question

Adobe Acrobat Pro drag and drop into combine files converting files instead

Hi everyone,

I use the Combine Files function in Acrobat a lot, but I'm at my wits' end with it. More often than not, when dragging and dropping a file or files into the combiner, it closes my combiner tool and converts/opens all the files I just dropped into pdfs. I realize I can use the "add files" button, but most of the time, I have several file explorer windows open already so it makes it so much easier to grab the files I need instead of navigating through a single window for several files.

My main goal here is to figure out why this happens. I thought maybe it was if I drug the files into a blank space, so I started making it so the little blue line is between files already there but still persists. My second guess is if Adobe isn't running correctly/not-responding, but task manager only indicates a spike after the files are dropped, which is just from the effort to convert the files.

Thanks in advance for any tips on aproaching this.

Noah

Hi @NoahBEA

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.

What is the version of the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 23.08.20470 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Also try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and see if that works.

Please try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://adobe.ly/3Hy47hV

You may also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights in Win or enable the root account in MAC and try using the application there and check.

Let us know how it goes.
