Hello @Ethereal_braincb49
I hope you are doing well, and thanks for reaching out. We're sorry for the trouble you had.
Please note that comments that were never actually written into the saved copy usually cannot be recovered unless a copy of them survives somewhere (an autosave file, a local or backed-up version, or a shared-review server copy). Adobe Cloud storage does not keep a user-facing version history for ordinary PDFs, so there is generally no "restore previous version" for a cloud PDF that was overwritten.
Suggestions:
Autosave/crash recovery. If Acrobat closed unexpectedly (rather than a normal close), relaunch it on the same computer and user account. If it offers to recover a file, accept it and immediately Save As under a new name. Autosave is a crash safety net only; it is cleared on a normal close, so this helps only if there was a crash and the app has not been reopened and closed cleanly since.
Find what actually saved. There may be a local copy separate from the cloud copy. In Acrobat Home check Recent and Documents > Your Documents (also at https://adobe.ly/4glnbSV), search your drive for the filename and near-duplicates like "name (1).pdf," and check any OS or folder backup (Windows File History, macOS Time Machine, or OneDrive/SharePoint version history if the PDF lived in a synced folder). Open each and see if the comments are there.
If this were a shared review / "Send for Review." This is your best chance, because in a shared review, the comments are stored on Adobe's server, not just inside the PDF. Sign in with the same Adobe ID used originally, open the review file from Shared by you / Shared by others, let it sync, and use Check For New Comments (and View > Tracker). The comments may still be on the server even if your local file looks empty.
If comments were ever exported to FDF/XFDF, re-import them via the comments list > Options > Import Data File. This only helps if an export already exists.

I hope this helps, and please reach out if you need any assistance.
Regards,
Anand Sri.
