Adobe Acrobat squishes text

Hello Guys,

I work in the IT department of a German Paper Manufacturer,

one of my collegues has the following issue:
If he opens up certain .pdf files with adobe acrobat (does not happen with all) it squishes the text so all the letters overlap.
I feel like this is a font issue but I have not been able to find a reason for this.
