Every time I open a PDF document, Adobe Acrobat Standard DC freezes, with the message "Adobe Acrobat (Not Responding). It takes about 30 seconds before the document can be used.  How can this be resolved?

Have you tried adding additional RAM to your system to see if it improves this lag?

Would increasing or disabling the virtual memory (if enough RAM is provided in your system) would also help?

Was this a computer using Windows7 on which an upgrade to Windows 10 was performed on top of the old operating system?

Hi Esmeh,

Apologies for the delay in response, I hope you would be able to fix it by now.

If the problem still persists, and the Adobe Acrobat Standard keeps on freezing, we need some more information for a better understanding.

In the meantime, you may try the following steps:

You may also follow the troubleshooting steps given in the help article below
- Troubleshoot Windows system errors, freezes | Adobe software
-Troubleshoot Mac OS 10.x system errors, freezes | Adobe software

Let us know if this works for you

One clue that may help is that it seems to also affect File Explorer esp. the Save As dialog (if I use it in another program).

Basically, I just need a list of things to check off to find a fix for the problem.

I am seeing this issue as well. It looks to be happening when Acrobat is signing the user into their account on Startup.

This issue has been ongoing since last summer and Adobe engineers are not able to fix it.

So you have to get used to waiting for 30 seconds every time you open a PDF.

I have chosen the habit of watching cat videos while waiting a PDF to open.
