Adobe Acrobat stopped working; Error 16

About 1 week ago, Adobe Acrobat stopped working--out of the blue.  When I try to open a document or the program, I get "Configuration Error: 16" then "Raise without Handler,"  and directions to uninstall and reinstall. I did this several times--get same message.  Then I searched online and found an Adobe solution on how to change permissions--still doesn't work.  I have Windows 10 and Adobe 15.  I have had Windows 10 for quite awhile with no problem.
