Adobe Acrobat X and Mac update problem

I have Adobe Acrobat X (10.1.16) and have a mac which I updated to Mojave (10.14.1). When I open Acrobat, it tells me I have to upgrade soon from 32 bit Acrobat to 64 bit acrobat (32-bit app compatibility with macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 and later - Apple Support) but when I open Acrobat and try to check for updates, all I get is an error message that says, "Cannot connect to Adobe Acrobat Server. Please." It says nothing more and my only option is to click OK which then quits updater. Any tips on how to keep my current version of Acrobat running? Thanks

you can't update your acrobat to a 64 bit program.  it's too old and is not compatible with your os.

you'll need to purchase the most recent acrobat if you want something compatible with your os.
