Hello Lumip,

Please use Acrobat cleaner tool to remove all the previous installation of Acrobat 11 and Acrobat 2017 Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

Reboot the machine and install Acrobat 11 back from Download Pro or Standard versions of Acrobat DC | Non-subscription

If the issue persists, please create a test user profile with full admin rights and check.

Note: Acrobat 11 is already declared as an end of support product, End of Support means that Adobe no longer provides technical support or distributes runtimes. This policy affects product and security updates for all derivatives of a product or product version (localized versions, minor upgrades, operating systems, dot and double-dot releases, and connector products).

For detailed information, you can refer to End of support for Adobe Acrobat XI and Reader XI

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Anand Sri.

Hi Anand,

Thanks once again.

Is there an Adobe DC with perpetual licence? I thought it was only subscription on DC.

By the way Acrobat Reader 11 works like a charm and only battling with just Adobe Acrobat XI/2017 app.

Will try the DC option and see what the results are.

Kind Regards

Hello Lumip,

Sorry for the delayed response and inconvenience caused. Asper the description above, Acrobat Standard 11 is crashing on startup, Is that correct?

Please check for any pending updates of Acrobat from help>check for updates, reboot the machine after installing any updates and see if this brings any difference.

Try resetting the Acrobat's preferences once and reboot the machine, to reset the preferences, refer to the steps mentioned in the article How to reset Acrobat Preference settings to default.

Make sure that you have installed all the latest and mandatory updates of the operating system. For testing purpose, please disable the startup items and the anti-virus installed and Acrobat is added as an exception in the anti-virus.

If the issue persists, please use Acrobat cleaner tool to remove Acrobat Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

Reboot the machine and install Acrobat back from Download Pro or Standard versions of Acrobat DC | Non-subscription

If you still experience the issue, please create a test user profile with full admin rights, and install Acrobat and check if the issue is reproducible.

Hello Anand.

Thanks for the feedback.

I used the cleanup tool to uninstall Acro XI. I then installed adobe Acrobat Pro 2017 and chose option for trial or subscription with an intention to use trial. The splash screen comes up and tries to load acrobat then close abruptly before the licence agreement screen comes up to "accept". On Taskmanager I see 2x AcroCEF.exe with different PID's. These processes do not close when acrobat closes. Also what I've noticed is that the when I run Acro Distiller 2017 it says "Your request could not be completed. Adobe Acrobat licence has expired or not activated.   think I followed your suggestion with no luck.

Current OS

Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter.

Hi All

Anyone has a suggestion. My adobe still does not start. Splash came up once after clean install and abruptly closed. The task manager shows the *.exe then closes within seconds.

Hi kglad.

Thanks for the reply. I followed your suggestion with no success. I removed the antivirus completely and disabled windows defender. Ran acrobat.exe as Admin... Splash screen came up then closed immediately.

Thanks for the response.

It does not seem to resolve my issue. By the way this is still happening even after using the Cleanup tool and a clean install.

Still trying things....

if you do a reinstall, do it thoroughly:

uninstall everything cc including preferences, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-remove-app.html

then uninstall the cc desktop app, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html

clean your computer of cc files per http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html

restart your computer (don't skip this)

reinstall the cc desktop app, https://creative.adobe.com/products/creative-cloud.

if you're unable to install the cc desktop app at this stage, use an administrator account (solution 4 here, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/creative-cloud-missing-damaged.html)

use the desktop app to install your cc programs/trials
