Adobe Cloud Recover Document

Question

I've been working on a particular document for several weeks. About a week or two ago, I noticed that you can 'star' a document, and I did so only to have it therefore uploaded to Adobe's cloud without my consent or awareness. I later tried to work on my document-- which I have on my computer-- offline but it wouldn't let me save it because it was on the cloud. I tried to take it off the cloud, and then the next time I opened it, my document was reverted back I think a week or two to when I uploaded it to the cloud.

How do I recover all that work?

Nevermind, it turns out that the current copy was still on the cloud and had been reverted only on my personal computer. I downloaded it again and recovered my work. It's not clear to me what utility this feature serves, but I'm glad my work wasn't lost
