Question

Adobe Constantly freezing / not responding with drawing files

We have client in the construction industry and they use a lot of files which included detailed drawing data in them.

The PDF files can range from a few KB to 100+ MB in size.

Over the last 2 months, we've noticed a lot more tickets coming in for the users complaining about Adobe crashing, freezing or simply being extremely slow.

Some of the PDF's which they work on, they get from clients who used AutoCAD software, and this client also uses CostX as their main system to work from.

In the last few weeks, we've had some success, by uninstalling the GPU (Nvidia cards) drivers and Adobe Acrobat DC. And then reinstalling the latest drivers (we usually then install the Nvidia Studio drivers). But this doesn't always work.

As an alternative, some members at the client, have access to Bluebeam which does the job fine. But for users who only have Adobe, this is rather problematic.

Knowing that Adobe Reader, is probably not the best / recommended PDF app to use when working with large drawings, are there any known fixes to get this resolved or improve things for the users?

Cheers,
