Question

Adobe Distiller can support Type 1 font

Adobe will stop the support for Type 1 fonts in January 2023

Will Acrobat Distiller should be affected?

We are using type1 fonts in other typeset which creates postscript that contains Type 1 fonts.

On using Acrobat Distiller we are creating PDF file from the PostScript file?

If the PDF embedded with Type1 font or unembedded.

We need Adobe to reply here and confirm that!

If Distiller can not support Font Type-1 (Which made by Adobe as first Scalable font) ,  it will be disaster ! and none of the EPS/Archive over the last 40 yeaqrs can be converted to PDF using distiller !!

Still many Apply Apps , program are using hertiage Type-1 , specially for non English fonts.

these are 2 examples of the negative side of that decsion.

I have never seen any Adobe technical experts (of this level) in this forum. I suspect Adobe have not even considered the point, but who knows. Distiller, as a PostScript interpreter, is required to be able to read type 1 fonts in the input stream, but there is a question over whether it can read them from the system. What happens if Microsoft stops them working in the system?

PostScript will continue to have type 1 support (because it does not and never will have OpenType support), so Distiller will still need to read that. So far as I can see.
