Adobe Pdf creation fails to work properly

Hi, i have had Adobe and Creative Cloud for many years now and have used all of the apps nearly daily. They have been good, however, Adobe has given me no end of trouble these last couple of days. We are using IMacs using MacOs Monterey, version 12.7.2. Trying to create a pdf - we open the Adobe app up and go to create a pdf, then select multiple files (have tried uploading the files and also dragging them into the window): this is where the problem begins, I click Combine, it starts to do a security check of the files and shows no detail of when it will conclude, it remains on No 1 file. If I keep clicking combine eventually it will do the transfer to a pdf. Though the pdf shows sizes of the files are all over the place, some very big full page, and others are tiny that can be barely seen. This result remains the same after saving the pdf and opening it up to view. I have never had this problem before, and have used Adobe to make combined files of this same type of jpeg many times before in the past with our business. Now it has this problem. Can you help me

Regards

Bruce
