Adobe PDF file preview broken in Windows Explorer and Outlook

Question

We cannot view any previews of files in windows explorer or outlook any longer since we updated to the latest creative cloud version.  This is an issue as we have pdf files with hundreds of pages that we are separating and renaming to index and file and now have to open each one and save as instead of just renaming within the windows explorer window using the preview pane.  Is there a fix for this?

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
