Question

Adobe Pro Comparison Viewed by Adobe DC User?

I have Adobe Acrobat Pro, and am able to perform a comparison between two PDFs. A few of my team members have Adobe Acrobat DC, and state that comparison files that I create and share with them are not displaying correctly. I know DC doesn't allow users to perform a comparison, but I had thought it would still allow them to view someone else's compared file. Do users need to have Pro in order to see the full comparison?

Thanks!

Hi @Robyn3345223195dn ,

Some premium and editing features such as , the Acrobat Compare Tool,  is not included in the Acrobat Reader (free) version. Is this the version that you're referring to about your users?

To start tracing back the issue, check if you've missed any steps or considerations about the type of PDF files that you're comparing and how to produce a PDF comparisson based on certain PDF aspects and criteria:

Secondly, regardless if the Acrobat Compare tool is exclusive of the Acrobat Pro (paid-for) version, your recipients should be able to view your PDF comparison reports because Acrobat Pro produces the PDF Comparison output as a PDF file. In which case, it would make sense to me that,  users who don't have Acrobat Pro DC nor Acrobat Reader DC, should be able to view that PDF report in a PDF-enabled web browser too.

That said, keep in mind that the interactive features of the Acrobat Compare Tool are not present for your users, but I would safely assume that at least , they'll be able to view, print, annotate, SaveAs and share the PDF report as read-only.

In any case, to rule out if the issue is happening only on their end, I  would suggest to have those other users confirm if they are all using the same  Adobe Acrobat Reader DC version, OR, if they are opening your shared files with third-party PDF editors (or with any other PDF viewing software such as, PDF-enabled web browsers).

If they do have Acrobat Reader DC and they all confirm that this is the software causing the issue, then have them check for important upadtes (for both, Adobe Acrobat Reader and whichever operating system they're on) . It is possible that if they're missing important updates your PDF Comparison report is not rendering properly for them on their desktop computers.

Provide them with the link below, and have them verify if they are indeed missing updates:

If they are missing updates, suggest them to install the updates and to try again and see if (this time around) your shared  PDF Comparison report will display correctly on their end.
