Adobe Pro Won't Open Downloaded pdf

Question

I have Acrobate Pro 2020 on my Dell laptop. Worked fine until yesterday. It will download a pdf from the internet (taking a foreign language course online) but it will not open the pdf in Google Chrome with the Acrobat .exe enabled. Reloaded Pro and it displays a sad 😞 page graphic when i try to open the downloaded document. Thanks.

How are you opening the PDF in Google Chrome? If you drag and drop the PDF into a browser window, does it fail to display the PDF? Is this the case with other PDFs?
Can you open Acrobat Pro and then open the PDF in there?
