We purchased Adobe Pro XI yeads ago via LWS. How do we know how many users can use this license and on how many machines canthis be installed? the LWS portal doesnt tell anything about license limitations/scope - only shows serial numbers, downlaod links etc.

Acrobat Pro XI serials expired at the end of 2017, so I think this is a moot issue. You will need to upgrade your volume license accordingly. XI serials can no longer be reused.... and since XI is no longer supported, you would need to upgrade to a current Acrobat anyway.

Regardless, your LWS portal should show your order, which, if it's showing you a certain number of activation codes (serials), I would assume that's your limit. In any case, the EULA for volume licensing is pretty much the same as individual purchases in that the software can be installed on a user's main computer and also a second one, but they cannot be used at the same time.

2.1.4 Restrictions on Secondary Use by Volume Licensees. If the Software was obtained under an Adobe volume license program or agreement (such as Adobe Volume Licensing) by any licensee other than an educational volume licensee, then the second copy of the Software made under Section 2.1.3 must be used solely for the benefit and business of that volume licensee.
