Adobe Reader unable to read images (PNG and JPEG)

Recently, it seems that my Adobe Reader just auto updated and now I am unable to drag images on to the PDF to add them to the file. Was there a new update that made this bugged? I usually use PNGs but now I get a message that says, "Adobe Acrobat Reader could not open 'FileName.png' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)." I went back to old PDF files with the same images I have added previously (the images still exist on the file) and tried re-adding them to the PDF, but I get the same error. Any info or help will be much appreciated!

Adobe Reader has never been able to "translate" a PNG (or JPG, or TIF) into a PDF.

However, the problem is not so much you as Adobe keeps changing its products' names. Adobe Reader has also been called Acrobat Reader. Acrobat Pro has also been called Acrobat DC, or Adobe DC.

Regardless of the name, all ~ Reader can do is open PDFs and can also let you fill out a form and have some editing capabilities as well. But it cannot do any conversion of a file to a PDF.

I'm not sure what program you did have that was making this conversion, but it was not Reader. It would have had to have been one of the paid versions of Acrobat.
