Adobe Will Not Download After New HDD

I just posted about this, and it was closed stating I need to contact Adobe Support.

I called Adobe Support before coming to a forum, and they told me Acrobat 9 an 10 are now supported in forums.  I even raised the question about this being a serial number/activation issue, he said 'yes, go to forums.adobe.com and a dedicated team will resolve your issue... what gives?

Sorry, but whoever in “Adobe Support” told you that serial number / activation issues for any product are handled in these forums is absolutely wrong. No one in these forums is directly involved with any serial number or activation operations at Adobe. In the future, ask for a supervisor when given such a response.

To your specific issue, a few questions?

Your subject says “Adobe will not download” but then you indicate that you need your “SN released.”

Is the problem that you can install the software but you are missing the serial number? Or do you have the serial number and the software refuses to either accept that number or allow activation of the software?

If you don't have the serial number itself, if you registered your version of Acrobat with Adobe on Adobe's website, logging in with your Adobe ID and navigating to the area where you manage your account. Registered serial numbers are listed there.

If you didn't register the product but you purchased the licenses as part of your computer system (perhaps it was preloaded with your Dell system), then you may need to contact Dell for the serial number if they didn't supply it to you originally.

Assuming that the serial number isn't the issue, but that when entering the serial number, it refuses to activate, then you must contact Adobe Support and specify that you are having activation issues and that this was due to replacing a disk drive. They should be able to “bump” the activation count for you. If whoever you speak to first can't help, demand to speak to a supervisor.

Or there some problem beyond the possibilities I've outlined above?

Hi, thanks for answering.  The person at Adobe Support must have misunderstood me.  I knew there was no way a forum would have anything to do with SN. But, I did clarify I needed my serial number deactivated, and asked if he was sure that could be done in a forum. So, I don't know what happened.

ANYWHO... I'm using Dell Digital Delivery.  I have had this issue before and it's never easy.  I had to replace a HDD and when running DDD, it says my products are up to date.  So, it pulls my service tag and sees it's activated.  I couldn't deactivate my serial number on the old HDD, and it must have been on it's second use of the number on the same device.

I need the number deactivated, released, what have you.  Dell says they don't have access to this particular service (activation/deactivation).  In the past, it has come down to Adobe releasing the serial number after talking to five different people.  It's not fun. But, I thank you very much.  This, and the first reply from an Adobe moderator, will help me when I call Adobe back.  Wish me luck!

I wish you success, not luck. Please let us know what transpires!

On behalf of Adobe, I am really sorry that you are enduring this type of customer-unfriendly experience!

I forgot to even add the issue:  New HDD - Dell Digital Delivery says my products are up to date.  I need my SN released to I can re-install Adobe to the same PC
