Advanced search does not bring up open files

I am using the advanced search on multiple indexed pdf files. The search retruns all the hits, but if I click on hit which points to an open file in the background, the acrobat will not bring up the open file. If the file is closed it works fine, acrobat will open the file and place it on top. This used to work fine on previous version but since couple of weeks after auto update it stopped working.
