After an update desktop icons are now thumbnails

PDF’s. After an update the icons on my desktop are now thumbnails (showing the contents instead of just an icon). If I change to icons in File Explorer then all my thumbnails in Documents are changed to icons (no contents, just an empty folder icon). I can’t seem to restore to the original view. Thanks, Lee

Version 11.0.32 Windows 10  Pro  The update included PDF Architect. I’m considering a system restore. Thanks, Lee

Done! Solved! Restore removed Architect & everything works as before. While the restore point existed, your suggestion to create 1 before an update is something I will put into practice from now on just to make sure there is one when needed. Thank you again for all your help. Lee

I’d say glad I could lend a hand, but all I did was encourage you to use the quick solution you knew would work. I’m glad everything worked out fine for you.

    That’s a great idea.

If you’re lucky enough to have a good restore point before you did the upgrade, a 10-30 minute system restore is the perfect way to kill many of the unexplained little gremlins that show up in the Windows environment.

And if you don’t mind me using this as an example, it’s also a great idea to manually create a restore point before doing any system upgrade. That should happen automatically, of course. But the time you don’t create that yourself will be the time you find out you’re going to lose.

Again, great call, and good luck.

    OK.

    • Which version of Acrobat DC?
    • Which platform (Mac, Windows, mobile, etc.)?
    • Which version of your operating system are you using on that platform?
    • And just to be clear, what exact update did you do to get your rude surprise?
