After Fill & Sign, Acrobat won't allow me to save or send a copy

After I fill & Sign, and date, a PDF doc, I can't save it, or save a copy. The dialog box error message says "The file may be read-only, or another use may have it open. Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder." After I rename the file and change the folder, the same error message pops up. If I try to 'Send a Copy' I get a direct error message that says "! Something went wrong. We weren't able to create your link. Please try again later."

Has anyone else experienced this???: It's really frustrating.

Hi Dwtinteriors,

After I fill & Sign, and date, a PDF doc, I can't save it, or save a copy. The dialog box error message says "The file may be read-only, or another use may have it open. Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder."

As explained, this error message generally appears when file is either opened directly through the email or from web and its not saved locally on your computer.

After I rename the file and change the folder, the same error message pops up. If I try to 'Send a Copy' I get a direct error message that says "! Something went wrong. We weren't able to create your link. Please try again later."

After you rename the file, then open the one you have saved locally after renaming not the one you were editing. How you are sending a copy of the file? what are the steps you are flowing to share it?

Make sure that document's properties allows you to make changes in it. Open Document>right click>Document Properties>Security

At our company, we download Adobe Fill & Sign on all our iPads, but recently we’ve gotten a notice that Adobe Fill & Sign is going to be Adobe Acrobat. We commonly use Fill & Sign to sign our documents or to make copies of them. Fill & Sign has a feature where you can make a copy of a document after editing it, without the changes that were made on it before, however, we noticed that Acrobat does not have that same feature. We were wondering if there was a way to make a blank copy of a document without the edits and changes that were made on it before, or is that a feature that needs to be purchased

I intermittently have this same error message 'document is open or in use in another program' when I am trying to sign several docments in one session. The most recent occurance, I wa working through 6 documents. I could sign and save documents 2, 4, 6, but got the error message on docuemtns 1, 3, 5. I rebooted my computer and got 1 and 3, but still same error on 5.

This is VERY frustrating. It is NOT due to where I am opening them from (all in the same folder) nor the document properties (all the same form template).

What is actually wrong?
