Question

After Install Reader DC, can't set 9 Standard as default reader

Hello,

We have a few users that had Adobe Reader 11 on their systems with Adobe Standard 9. We use Adobe Standard 9 as our default reader and it is used to sign documents in the organization. A few users unwittingly upgraded Reader to DC and it set itself as the default for .pdf files. Now I cannot get Standard set as default even after I uninstalled Reader DC. I can set 9 standard as the default, but when the user logs off and back on it resets to no default.

Any help appreciated.

I COMPLETED that process (2 times now). Removed Adobe Reader DC, removed Adobe Standard 9.5, Ran the cleaner tool for Reader and Standard. Restarted - reloaded Acrobat Standard 9.5 set adobe standard 9.5 as the default reader for .pdf. Default sets, but once I logoff and back on the default is removed. PDF's attached to outlook messages will not open either.

you attempted that, or you completed that?

if you completed that, google the problem or wait to see if someone else can help.

i'm not sure it's worth doing, but you can uninstall all read and acrobat versions.

if windows, clean per Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

restart the computer

reinstall acrobat 9

do not install any reader versions or you're risking problems.
