Question

After typing text in a text box, it disappears.

I am using Acrobat XI. I need to take notes on my PDF. I used to do this by writing in a text box. However, since last few month, whenever I write in a text box, it is visible only till I am in text box. As soon as I click somewhere else text box disappears.

Any help shall be sincerely appreciated..

Incredibly this bug is apparently still present as of 6/24/2020, latest edition.  Unbelievable!

After you have clicked away from the text box, and it disappears, are you able to find it and click on/select it, or is it not there any longer at all?  If it's there, but not visible, perhaps that can be addressed more easily than it not being there any longer at all.  Also which tool are you using to create the text box?  If i remember Acrobat XI accurately, there is both a text box annotation tool and a typewriter tool that also lets you add text to a PDF.

My best,

Dave

Thanks Dave for prompt response. Yes, it become visible again after clicking on it. I tried both text box and typewriter tool. Problem remains the same for both. One thing noteworthy however is when I write something by using pencil it persists.

Further, I use acrobat mainly for PDF editing and restructuring. Does newer version of Acrobat has better functionality in this regard?

I am wondering if your text is there, but the color of the font is the same as your page?  Or perhaps, if using the Add Text tool, your text box is behind something in the stacking order.  You can right click on it then, and choose Arrange>Bring to Front to see if that's the issue.

My best,

Dave
